So, following an 11.5 hour Friday-night garage session (from 5pm-4:30am), my car is now the beneficiary of a set of Koni "Yellow"
adjustable shocks, as well as some reinforced end-link mounts. The former is the last thing I can do to the car and
still run stock class with SCCA, the latter is a preventative measure done to prevent the stock mounts from cracking under
the strain of the rather large Suspention Techniques sway bar I run.
The installation took a while because
we were screwing around and watching the Olympics' opening ceremony, and because Toyota is retarded and I have to disconnect
brake lines to remove the struts...meaning those have to be reinstalled and the brakes bled.
After all of
that, I got my ass handed to me on Sunday. Strangely though, I'm ok with that. The car has never felt more
responsive on the limit, and really my placing would have been better if not for a cone or two. What I'm saying
is that the potential is there with the car now, but as with the race tires, my brain and technique may take a few events
to catch up. I can hope anyway...
As discretion oft proves the better part of valor, brevity
oft proves the better part of writing. Due to some mild retardation I have no video from my HPDE outing and
thus, on this occasion, I must hang my hat on mere words and pictures.
I will admit to some trepidation as
I unloaded my car in a driving snow storm on Friday the 12th. Camden, SC where I lodged received, in fact, 5 inches
of accumulation in about 12 hours Friday night. Fortunately, all was not lost.
UPDATE: So, as I posted in the blog section to the left, all went well. I ran somewhat
of a mini-blog on Tennspeed, and I am way too lazy to transcribe the entire thing, so in lieu of actual work, here is a link:
So, we are at it again. We loaded the GT2 onto the trailer yesterday
(Wednesday 11/11) and headed south. We pulled in today and with a favorable weather forecast, it looks like some pretty
slick stuff is going to come out of the woodwork. I snapped a few teaser pics in the garage earlier this evening, but
will post more. The link below will take you to all pictures:
Better
late to the headlines than never. TJ finally managed to get the 240 up and completely running a month or so ago.
Now it is just an issue of a little polish and fine-tuning. In honor of this momentous occasion, 3-Zero productions
presents....a ridiculous video montage
It snowed
here in Knoxville recently, and I was reminded how very incompetent most people are at driving in the white stuff. To
wit, I present to you, "how it's done":
